- From Ayurveda With Love means compassion and finding our Dharma in life, so can you tell us what you are compassionate about?
My Dharma is to help people understand, love, and appreciate what makes them unique, through Yoga and Ayurveda, so that they can live their best life.
- Tell us where do you come from, what you are doing and what your plans look like for 2019?
I am originally from the Midwestern region of the US, but have been living in Seattle (the West Coast) for about the last 10 years. This year, I’m refining my business, meaning I’m setting myself up to spend more time doing new and exciting things, relaxing, and hanging out with my family. Fall of 2019, I am planning on heading to France, which has been a childhood dream.
- Where do you teach/work/heal actually?
I own a yoga studio (Seattle) and an online platform, Eka Yoga, that is dedicated to reconnecting Yoga and Ayurveda through education and inspiration.
- What do you know about Ayurveda? Do you practice it already?
I know quite a bit! I have been studying Ayurveda for nearly 10 years and it is a huge part of my everyday life and practices.
- What are your thoughts about Ayurveda?
I love it! Through the ancient wisdom of both Ayurveda and Yoga, I healed my own body and mind. I am continually amazed how it is able to transform lives.
- Do you know which Dosha you are?
I am Vata dominant, with a big dose of Kapha.
- How does your perfect morning routine looks like?
I love my morning routine! I normally leave my house around 5:45 am every morning to teach, so I do get up quite early to get everything in, but it’s well worth it.
– Wake up
– Tongue Scrape
– Drink warm water with lemon
– Oil pull
– Bathe while oil pulling
– Spit out oil and then brush teeth.
– Meditate or journal for 10-15 minutes. There are days where this is only 2-3 minutes, but I make sure it always happens. J
- How do you integrate Ayurveda into your day to day life?
Both my morning routine and evening routine are heavily focused around Ayurvedic daily habits. As of right now, in the evening, I only practice dry brushing and Abhyanga about once a week, but I do massage my feet with oil every night to promote a good night of sleep.
As for food, I enjoy cooking, so I normally make most of my meals fresh. Being Vata dominant, my belly does way better with cooked vegetables that are heavily spiced.
I also, of course, practice yoga daily. Sometimes I go to a class; sometimes my practice is just my dog and me in the living room.
- Is there some Ayurvedic practice you would like to try but never had the chance?
Yes… I have not yet done a full and proper Panchakarma session. I would love to go away to a serene location and be fully guided through the practice
- Are you into Yoga or practicing it?

Yes and yes. I have been practicing for about 15 years and teaching for a little over 10 years.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Living a joyful and abundant life with my husband and kids (no kids yet), somewhere a bit more sunny than Seattle. I see myself running my business online so that I am able to help more people feel like the best version of them!
- What is your greatest weakness? What are you doing to improve it?
I always feel the need to justify what I am doing to ensure people know that everything I do has been thought out and with good intentions. I have a fear of being judged and not liked, which has, many times, put me in my own way. It’s silly some of the things we think, believe, tell ourselves.
Anyway… I am aware of it and I have asked my husband to call me out whenever I do it to break the habit. Often, I don’t even realize I am doing it. Eeek!
- How did you find the path you are on right now? Was there a key moment?
I fell into it. It started with gym yoga, which I absolutely hated the first time I did it, as I am not athletic or coordinated and it forced me to be alone with my thoughts. Quick back-story: I was diagnosed with depression around the age of 7 and had a challenging upbringing, by the time I hit college and took this yoga class; I was a pretty angry and bitter human being. The only reason I went back was because I bought a pass and I was determined to get my money’s worth. After a couple months of yoga, I noticed that my insomnia was lessening and my lower back didn’t hurt as much, so I kept going. Long story short, I met a yoga professor who introduced me to more of the spiritual side of yoga, and it blew my mind! Shortly after, I decided to head to India to further my studies. In India, I was introduced to Ayurveda, which was probably my key moment. There, I realized how much Yoga and Ayurveda were changing me physically, mentally, and emotionally, and thought, “If I can do this, anyone can.”
- How important is meditation to you?
Meditation wasn’t always a part of my practice because I felt like I couldn’t do it. However, after opening my own business I realized I could, I had to, and I could do it anywhere. Meditation is what keeps me grounded and helps me flow with ease and grace through each day.
- What is your philosophy and spiritual path?
Be kind to your self, others, and the planet. If you can do that, we all win!
- What have you done into the last year to improve yourself?
I started doing talk therapy. Between running a business, managing staff, all of my yoga students, and Ayurvedic clients, I realized that I take in a LOT of input, feelings, and emotions each day with no real outlet. I see a therapist monthly to literally just talk it out. This allows me to release all that I absorbed over the month, resolve any internal conflicts I’m battling with and also be more present with my clients and students.
- Who has been your greatest influence?
I’m Vata, I can’t just choose one! Most recently, I’ve been reading everything Deepak Chopra, and feeling very inspired and connected to his message.
- What is your greatest strength?
I’m inviting. I like making people feel safe and welcome, whether it’s in their own body, a physical space, or on social media.
- How do you handle stress and pressure?
The usual… Yoga, meditation, and most importantly, breathing. Breath work is amazing because you can do it anywhere and at any time. When I know that I have a busy or stressful period of time coming up, I will also take Ashwagandha daily to help combat that fight or flight response.
- What are your favorite self-care practices and rituals?
I love daily walks with my pup, nightly oil foot massages, and a weekly face mask/reading session.
- Are you into Wellness?
Yes!
- What are your thoughts about the Zero Waste movement and do you also try to reduce your waste?
I am definitely on board with the Zero Waste Movement and I do try to reduce my waste. I’m lucky to live in a city that has banned plastic bags and is huge on composting, so it makes it pretty easy to get started.
- Where do you find your ideas for your creative content? Is there also an “outer” life besides posting and blogging, like painting?
It has to be the Vata in me because I never run out of ideas. I’m not sure where it actually comes from. Sometimes I get an idea by someone I saw walking down the street. (“Is laughing.”) The hardest part for me is sitting down long enough to make them into something real and tangible.
I really love the opportunity to create anything in any way shape or form. I do draw or doodle as another form of mindfulness and meditation.
